On the 272 engine I am rebuilding I had a tough time cleaning the oil pan because the oil had to be scraped out in chunks. I was wondering how I could clean under the baffle so I decided to take a long screwdriver and scrape out what I could. Then I put the pan in parts cleaner and took a long brushed which I use to clean the oil holes on engines and bent it so it fit under the baffle and I was able to get it cleaned

I’d be concerned that in using the bottle brush under the oil pan tray that you would not get all the ‘crud’ removed and would be getting it dislodged just enough to come loose at a later date once the engine is running. A machine shop that has a good caustic soda vat would likely insure that most if not all of the sludge under the baffle would be removed.

If you feel comfortable in that all the 'crud' has been removed, then never mind.
