Just trying to get some info on the purchase of those chrome plated Yblock valve covers, please (not sure if this is the correct section - if it isn't can someone post me and tell me where to go, please?).

Down here in Australia not too much Yblock stuff that I can find. I am thinking of a pair of chrome vlave covers but I don't want crap ones that won't last. i have seen them on Epay for around $US30.00.

Does anyone know if they are any good OR can you suggest where I should be shopping please?
All advice appreciated - thanks in advance!

Gary, Downunder

The ones I've seen at swap meets here, are thinner metal than stock and don't have the extra metal tacked on to hold the gasket in place.Don't know how good the chrome is.

Gary

I agree with Dennis. I have a pair that came on my car they were the first thing that got removed after the plastic hub caps. If you want chrome valve covers the best thing is to have a pair of stock ones done , unless you are going to sell the car before they leak

I bought a pair from J.C.Whitney about 5 years ago and have had them on the car for about 15,000 miles. They don't leak and the chrome still looks good. They are as heavy as stock covers.Whitney still has them in their catalogue for $39.95.

My .02 If I had the money I'd have a set of the stock FORD covers chromed. Saw a pair once - very nice. The e-bay ones don't have the raised lettering so look plain to me. Might be OK if some kind of script was mounted on them though.

Patients, persistence, time .... and a little cash.
