raced my 1954 Vic 292 Y block  in a three day vintage class rally in the country  outside of Chihuahua City ,Mx

very challenging roads.  high speed sections  and lots of curves  = long 10 hr days.  we suffered penelties on Friday ( ran out of fuel ) and ahd to catch up

Saturday  kissed a gaurd rail ( lost power steering pump and had to catch uo again )

Sunday ran good ( still no power steering ) finished third in class overall

check out photos and result times om www.chihuahuaexpress.com

will be goin back next year

that '51 chrysler is goin to be tough to beat .

he got a hemi 331 dual carbs

we were real close in most speed sections

best to run strong (90%) and steady and leave da rest to Lady Luck

I think we'll  see him in this years La Carrera Panamericana

He won  the Original PanAm class in '02

I won it last year

giddy up

Get Mummert to build you a serious 312!  This would look like the 50's USAC and early NASCAR all over. Very cool. All you need is to get somebody named Curtis Turner to drive!

Yea , your right .. the limiting factor is the loose nut behind da wheel

Mummert says the 292 is more reliable for this hard endurance racin

remember .. one has to finish to win ... actualy everyone who crosses the finish line IS a WIENNER ( as they say in Mexico )

I would offer that anybody with the guts, and drive to ENTER the race is a winner. Let alone with a Y block !  I am in awe of this effort. Congrats on finishing.

Carson...thanks for the post. I really enjoyed all of the pics. Looks like you guys have a lot of fun down in Mexico! Got to get down there one day and see the countryside. Best of luck next year.
