| Johnny, You can make your alternator fit the stock passenger bracket with a little welding and time. I know somebody (Concours?) sells one, can' remeber who at the moment.

| | We Fabbed one for my 57 to fit a GM one wire all we did was re-drill the holes on the original 292 bracket and added a spacer and longer bolt. |

| | Go to http://www.ranchwagon.com/tech/alt/alt.htm It is a very basic setup I used pipe nipples instead of all the washers. Even shows how to wire it so the idiot lite still works. T M

| Concours has one listed. B5A-10346-B. It is listed for 90bucks which is pretty salty for something you can make from a stock Y Block bracket for 10 or 15 Dollars.

| | The site that Tom listed above is the most commomly used "do it yourself" alternator installation I know of. The parts are simply constructed and appear to work just fine.

| If you plan to install air in the near future, Vintage Air has an alternator/compressor bracket that is really nice.

| | Mr. Cash, you can also get them from Mac's Auto Parts, they sell the whole kit, but possibly they might sell just the brackets. www.macsautoparts.com Another is one that sell the kits in Yblock Magazine that is L.D. Becker Atique Auto Electric. Ph. Number is 419-633-5122. No website that I know of, he might sell just the brackets. I have one of his kits with a 105 amp. alternator and am very pleased with it. Becker by the way is in Ohio. Steve Metzger's photos are also very easy I would think, to put together a bracket as well. The hardest part I could think of is finding the "drill stops" on the threaded shaft. I accually though about possibly making up a few of these and trying to sell them on either Ebay or in Yblock Magazine. It sure wouldn't take much to make. Michael Henderson, NV 89074 |
