| okay i know im prolly getting on all you y-blocker's nerves by now, but keep in mind im only 18 with little knowledge about this stuff, and you guys are pretty much my teachers and im the struggling student.
about two weeks ago i bought a B&M shifter, to be more exact if your wondering, the b&m 80681 z-gate shifter, looks like this:

my dad said he's used it before on his 71 pontiac he owned when i was like 7 years old and it worked great. well, when i tried putting it on my automatic tranny, it wouldnt work he said. i guess in the instruction pictures, the little levers face down, but on my transmission, they go horizontal. he said something else probably wont let it work on there either, so yea, im stuck with that.
also.... my throttle linkage wont work. i have an inline 6 linkage originally in there (the gas pedal lever bar thing... i think you might know what im talking about), and i dont think i have all the right parts to make my linkage work.
we went to the mechanic yesterday who got it running for us, and he said that he would be able to make the throttle linkage cable operated (i think thats what he said my dad was the one who talked to him), and he'd be able to do something with the shifting linkage....
how hard is it to make the throttle linkage into cable? and what can i do about my shifter??? i spent 130 bucks for that, i dont think i can return it now, i prolly can but my mechanic said just keep it on there, he'll figure out something.
only problem is i cant put the car in the shop until the 16th, he's going to canada for a couple weeks. i dont wanna spend over 800-1000 bucks to have this thing pretty much all fixed. i really need help guys.
im not being mean when i say this, but honestly my dad just cant help me out. he gives up to easy and he hates working on it. he doesnt like to go over to my grandmas and help me out... so im pretty much stuck doing the work on my own.
can you guys help out

| Can you post a picture of the tranny linkage? This may help in coming up with a fix or modification that will allow you to use your shifter. While I’m not familiar with the exact shifter you have, it may be similar to another B&M shifter I have and I can compare the shifter arms.
