| | I started ripping into the floor replacement job on my '55 Fairlane today. Turns out I'm going to need new rockers, too. I got the floor pans from Mac's and finally looked at them this weekend. I was hoping that what I called "the floor" was included in the panels, but it isn't...SO... On the '55, you have the front floor pans, which are flat. I suppose you could call it part of the firewall, but I am interested in knowing the name of the part that angles down under the dashboard to form the angled part of the floor, where the flat floor pan attaches. The part of the firewall that is inside the car. I looked at Mac's catalog and can't find anything that matches that description. I would just patch it with flat stock but the existing pieces are molded and I don't know how I'd ever attach flat steel to the bead rolled piece that is there. Anyone have any tips or suggestions where to find this? Thanks. |

| I think in most cases that is referred to as the toeboard.Mac's and Concours both have the part,I'm sure.

| Deyo: Another probable source is EMS Engineering. Established vintage care parts outfits may have agreements with them.

| I used EMS on my '57 Ranchero: all four floor pieces and the passenger rocker. Excellent quality. I spent many hours trimming to make them fit perfect. This was my first time replacing floor panels so made many passes with a cutting wheel. (I did not want to cut twice and find out it was still too short, LOL :w00t I agree with the term "Toe Board" for the piece going up to the fire wall.
As an aside, during installation I started with the passenger front. After happy with the fit bolted it in place and was my "go by" for the pass. rear. Then the drive rear and so forth. What you cut out don't throw away until finished. Yep, thats a patch I had to make on the tunnel.
Good luck, r
