Yes. another new member. I got here searching around for the information regarding putting Granada spindles on a 55 Ford. I have a 55 Sedan Delivery that I should start on soon, so maybe I can drive the thing before I die! It's kind of a basket case, when I bought it my wife called it a life sized madel car.

It came with a 292 Y-block that was sitting beside it in the dirt and it is quite locked up. A three speed manual transmission was lying where the driver's seat once was and there was an assortment of fenders, dash and other assorted parts in the rear.

I have a good 351 windsor sitting under a table in my shop. I have a Ford four-speed transmission and a 9-inch rear end out of a 1957 Fairlaine 500. I also have a complete Mercury Monarch (the same thing as a Granada but with the Mercury badges) that is a 302. Anyhow you can see where I am planning on going with the Sedan Delivery. It is looking like a big job at this point.

Welcome aboard! Since most of the folks here are Y-Block nuts I'm sure the consensus would be "rebuild the Y-Block". I'ts not that hard to locate a decent block. Dare to be different and puzzle your friends. With the aftermarket equipment available today you can make an old 292 scream! Chuck in NH

Y's guys rule!

it's real easy, be sure the granada has 5 lug wheels , and reg. steering box. Once ford changed over to the fox frame with 4 lug and rack, it's not the same, or worth the time. You have to aquire a ball joint reamer , I think it's a no. 2  , I had to buy one, speedway motors was the cheapest at the time $49.  You only need to ream one side , I think it was the bottom. Went quick ,maybe 2 minutes a side. That's it , fits right on .

Yes, it is the five lug with the regular steering box. I am ready to tear the thing apart in a few days.

MoonShadow, I do have a y-block that is not locked up sitting in a 55 town sedan that I bought for parts but I am planning on saving that one for the 55 that I bought when I was 16 and it has been sitting in the shed over at my Mom's house since I was 17. I was going to start on that one after I get the sedan delivery up and running. I had originally planned on putting a FE in the sedan delivery but with the price of fuel I have been thinking small block.

I am currently feeding the 460 in my 1969 Lincoln. I enjoy the heck out of driving the Lincoln but $3.00 a gallon kind of cuts those trips down a little. Of course I don't drive the Lincoln in the winter I have a Jeep and a 78 Chevy pickup for that.
