| | This link will get you to Caterpillar's hardware book........sometimes you need a fastener that has to have more strength than SAE Grade 8 or maybe a particular head or shank. They are not cheap and sometimes their desk clerks are a pain in the backside (what machine type and serial number do you have sir?). | | I agree with this post, I have worked at a Caterpillar dealer for 11 years and in the industry 19, The Caterpillar bolts are purchased by many motorsport fraternitys from track cars to dirt track cars and are some of the best bolts you can come across, rolled threads etc, They have traditionally come in phosphate and oil coated black, and zinc dichromate gold, recent media released they are going to a silver coating which is more palletable for us automotive guys. I have used these fasteners in applications where some would normally use ARP or similar without failure, no doubt about it good hardware. Regards,

| | I agree Cat has some of the best bolts and hardware out there. Get a safe source book , anything from tools to chemicals to ??? Cats gasket cement and never sieze are hard too beat . Also lifting slings & tie downs all manner of things are available. If there is a John Deere dealer in your area they also have a good selection of grade 8 bolts & hardware. Both companys have a good selection of standard & metric O rings. Have A Good Day---Hotwrench
