I use an 8" pipe wrench over the outside of my socket. I made a spark plug socket.  It's a nut welded to a socket I cut to length and drilled to fit over the porcelain.  I use it with a ratcheting box end wrench.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;[IMG]http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o214/cmccraney/Pictures%20for%20Forums/2010/m_IMG_3970.jpg[/IMG]&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;An offset box end wrench works but you have to be careful that you don't round off the plug.
