The time consuming area is the Profiles. It takes me anywhere between 10-20 minutes to do one. And we have a ton of profiles!

I am working on it every night, gonna try to turn it on by the 1st of June. The forum will remain as is, all the new site does is link to what we already have here so that won't change.

If you want a sneak peek at what I'm up to, you can look at what I have done so far at http://newsite.y-blocksforever.com

I had totally forgotten how many hours it took to build the current site, but at least it was stretched out over several years! I'm trying to do this new one in only a couple of months and I really think i can write html code in my sleep!

Enjoy!

AM Radio

Hey All; I know this is not a questionabout Y-Blocks, but a friend of mine needs either a used radio or front dial glass for a 65 T-bird. Most of the pre-fitment work is already done, via a running 292 I picked up a couple weeks ago. I should be able to start getting stuff rounded up soon for this thing. I will be having the block bored to 3.80 or 3.81, depending on which piston and rod combo I decide on. Plans call for a CNC machined I-beam of some kind, unless I find an H-beam I like. Forged pistons with a nice thick crown for a bunch of boost. I plan on 12-14 to get started, with 20-25 to come. Working on getting a set of big chamber posted heads right now, will upsize valves on exhaust side, standard 1.92 intakes. Will be lightweight valves with good springs and seals. Still working out the camshaft right now, should make scary power. I will be putting a pair of small T3 turbos on the running 292 I have now, just to learn fuel and ignition basics, with about 8-10 lbs..The real bullet will get a pair of hybrid T3-T4 turbos, and adjustable wastegates so I can play with power output. MSD distrib with MSD ignition box, boost retard and boost referenced fuel pump should make it all work together. I am starting to see the lights at the end of the tunnel on this project, at least as far as the hard parts go anyway. I want to stay with a toploader 4 speed, but may end up going to a C4 automatic. I will post some updates whenever I can, and will add photos as I can as well....wish me luck Y's guys, this is gonna be a hairy ride methinks...

A good look at an Argentina Y Running

I stumbled upon this by accident on You tube. Primary candidates are Battery Tender (12V 1.25 Amp) versus BatteryMinder (12 V 1 Amp) versus Battery Sentinel (12 volt 3 amp); Only Sentinel & Minder have "desulfination" features, but most good press found was for Tender. They're all within the same $50 to $60 price range. Anyone know of any good reasons to use one of these three or a good reason why anyof these should not be considered ?

MoonShadow post mortem

Finally a fairly nice day so I decided to do a quick check on the engine. Pulled the valve covers, all push rods and rockers in place. Cranked the engine everything goes up and down. So good so far. Pulled all the plugs, all nasty looking from short start and warm ups during the winter!

Finally a compression check. Cylinders running from 120 to 135 on the drivers side (easy side first). Same on the passenger side until I got to number two (the last one to do of course). It bounces on the gauge but reads a resounding 0. That may be my problem, do ya think? I was pretty sure I busted some rings and/or a piston and this pretty well confirms it.

So off went the 40 over 272 to the machine shop for a deck and balance job. Hope to have it back in a few weeks. Then its out with the old and in with the new. I'll have to put off building the 312 for another year.

Anyway, thats whats happening in New Hampshire today! I'll know more this afternoon when I finish taking it down.
The 11 inch flywheel is a bonus too. he said it came out of a '63 Ford F-600 so it may have the steel crank.
Evidently they took the 292 out to put in a 460 !?!?...........

A bit longwinded, but it pays to get in with the scrapper crowd, you never know what they run across, I gave him my number and told him to keep me in mind if he runs across anything old.

He calls me this morning at 7am (he woke me up from my comatose like sleep) and tells me he just got a '64 Ford Fairlane 2dr ht and he'll take $300 bucks for it, with the title!

i'm sure the body is rough, but for the price it's worth looking at..

Just what I need more junk laying around!

VS57.com

Does anyone have an idea whats going on with VS57.com? My name is Jeremy, i'm 28 years old and live in Waynesboro, PA. I recognize some of the user names here from another site called the HAMB. I purchased the 55 crown vic below this past september, and have been busy tinkering with it since. I removed the fender skirts, Hood ornaments, hubcaps, front bumper guards and also installed an old tube grill. It's powered by a 312 which the last owner had rebuilt.
I pulled the engine last week so I could replace the rear main seal and painted my firewall black since I'd like to have the car totally black one day. I'm also working on installing a dual master cylinder while the engine is out.

The last pic on the bottom is my uncle back in the mid 60's with his 55 crown. It was powered at one time by many engines including a 272, 292, 312, 390, 406, 427, and even a straight 6 at one point:w00t:. It even had a fiberglass hood and fenders.

Legendary Ford Mag articles

two well done Y Block articles in this slick bi-monthly mag
#1 a six page article of "10 things to know about Ys guys love'um"

#2 a three page article "once upon a tome in Mexico"

winning the original PanAm class in the La Carrera race w/ a Y block

both artical are full of great photos

www.legendaryfordmagazine.com 1-800-857-7772

giddy up , Carson

www.

'50 Ford

Y-Guys My son is looking at a '50 ford car to purchase and was

asking me if I thought a 'Y' would fit.

Has anyone seen this or know someone that has one?

                                              Thx Bill

Air Cleaner ID Help

Can anyone identify the source for these air cleaners?

Thanks,

Trouble accessing the forum with Internet Explorer

Is anyone else having trouble getting on the forum using internet explorer?

Oils for non rollerized engines

Since this is an ongoing issue, just thought to advise that the March 2008 issue of Street Rodder, has an article on oils & lifter problems etc.

My extra '56 312

i couldnt give this away. i ran the #'s and checked the crank and then found out its a 312.
probably from a 56 fairlane?

not bad for an extra "throw-in engine" with purchase of a 59 truck.

what should i look for as potential problems. not sure why it was partially taken apart.

thanks!

1955 Ford Benz

I'm searching for a very unique old car and hoping that one of you may have seen it or heard of it. It's a 1955 Ford sedan body, can't remember if it's 2 or 4 door. The entire drivetrain and most of the suspension and frame are from a Mercedes-Benz sedan...probably a late 70's or early 80's model.

If it's still in the condition it was in when my father sold it, it would have hand controls for a handicapped driver as well as an Apache attack helicopter joystick for the gear shift which was using all the joystick buttons to open the doors, hood, trunk, and operate the cruise control.

I realize this is a very strange request, but I have found nothing through my recent searches and was hoping someone may have seen this oddity at a show somewhere or perhaps heard about it.

My father built this car and then sold it around 18 years ago. Hopefully it hasn't been parted out or stripped. My father passed away 10 years ago and I am looking for some of his projects. He also built a '40 Ford coupe which was all GM drivetrain and also had a few interesting fabrications added on (creased hood, swivel seats, custom fuel tank, custom rear seat, etc.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ECG-B combustion chamber volume

I have a '55 ECG-B head that has been hanging around for a while.
