For you to get this to work you'll probably need some sort of tubing and some longer screws.......And a healthy dose of imagination. Search "alternator bracket" on this site and you'll see all sorts of ideas.

When I need little bits of iron welded into brackets etc. - I usually take them by the local muffler shop. They are the thin gauge welding kings and some will do a quick job for free and others will want five bucks.

RE: WANTED: 292 alternator bracket?

i looked it up in the macauto book and its a 176 bucks!!! i just need the bracket, some screws and what not. if anyone has one for sale hey, i'll buy it off of you. cuz i went to that gm website everyone refers everyone to, and i didnt see where to order it? but yea i just need that bracket if anyone has one

RE: WANTED: 292 alternator bracket?

Mr. Cash,

you can also get them from Mac's Auto Parts, they sell the whole kit, but possibly they might sell just the brackets.

www.macsautoparts.com

Another is one that sell the kits in Yblock Magazine that is L.D. Becker Atique Auto Electric. Ph. Number is 419-633-5122. No website that I know of, he might sell just the brackets. I have one of his kits with a 105 amp. alternator and am very pleased with it. Becker by the way is in Ohio. Steve Metzger's photos are also very easy I would think, to put together a bracket as well. The hardest part I could think of is finding the "drill stops" on the threaded shaft. I accually though about possibly making up a few of these and trying to sell them on either Ebay or in Yblock Magazine. It sure wouldn't take much to make.

                                                                        Michael

                                                              Henderson, NV 89074

RE: WANTED: 292 alternator bracket?

If you plan to install air in the near future, Vintage Air has an alternator/compressor bracket that is really nice.

RE: WANTED: 292 alternator bracket?

The site that Tom listed above is the most commomly used "do it yourself" alternator installation I know of. The parts are simply constructed and appear to work just fine.

RE: WANTED: 292 alternator bracket?

Concours has one listed.
