For those of you still looking, I bought some from both sources. The link I noted in an earlier post (with picture) cost me $40 shipped for 2 bags of 4, Eelco brand packaging.

I contacted the seller in Ted's link above and got a bulk pack of 8 for $16/shipped. The Ebay seller that Ted listed sells the rough casting, and it isn't tapped for threads, but has a 1/4" hole if I recall correctly. That would be best for a Y-block fella's purpose.

Thanks for the replies. I found a nice set of enlarged aluminum acorn nuts at restoration shop her in the Netherlands. I am still looking for the wing nut style if anyone finds some. Let me know. I will post pictures of my engine build in the very near future.

when I changed over to the alum T-Bird covers I used 5/16-18 grade 8 all-thread, cut it to the length needed. That way the coarse thread gives you more options for acorn nuts wing nuts etc. I did it mostly because I had a hard time finding anyone who stocked the correct T-Bird studs.

5/16”-18 X 5/16”-24 X 3.86”

For the aluminum T-Bird covers the dimensions are:

5/16”-18 X 5/16”-24 X 4.125”

Coarse thread at the heads and fine threads for the valve cover nuts.

You sure about that? IIRC, at least on mine, I *thought* that the bolt hole in the head for the stud is coarse thread, and you use that itched stud for the regular valve covers. If you had the t-bird dress up covers you had to get different studs that were coarse on one end (to go into the head) and fine pitch on the other for the dress-up nuts specific to those covers? Just thought I'd put it out there- There was a guy who had a set of nice T-bird valve covers come up missing due to those. He had his car parked for the night at the motel the club was staying at (he was attending an out of state show) He discovered the theft the following morning. I read about it on Jalopy Journal a year or two back, IIRC /Duck

These are not for sale, but I thought I'd let everyone see what it is you are looking for. These were made by Eelco and I haven't seen them for sale in a long time. I bought these at a swap meet some years ago. The guy had about 20 and were still in blister packs. I only bought 4, "DOH!!!".

Hi everyone I am finally getting the pieces together to finally complete building up my 292. Thanks to Charlie for helping me get sorted with a prober timing cover for the engine. I am looking for a set (4) aluminum valve cover wing nuts to go with the moon valve covers I got on e-bay. I am sure I will be asking for more advice as start up time approaches.
