| | In decoding our vin plate, I found out that our 56 sunliner was born at the "chester" plant. I know this will sound stupid, but Chester where? What state? Thanks! |

| | Ah ha! Thanks! That was the only Chester I could think of, but couldnt find any back-up. Does anyone have any idea how to get any of the paperwork of history of the car by the vin? I know you can (i.e. Marti report) for later fords, but anybody know how to do that for the '50's cars?? Cool truck, BTW! |

| | Actually, Im north of Chicago. We bought the car from someone in wisconsin, who had it stored in a barn in Indiana for about 20 years before we bought it in 1989......Part of the reason I want to try to find some more about the history of the car... Thanks! |

| | Cool article; thanks for the link. Ill send you the vin info in the next few days. Ive attempted to decode it based on service manuals I have, but it would be interesting to verify my interpretation. By the way, any idea if Ford has the ability to track where a car was originally sold, to who, etc? I think GM has a service like that.... I would love to find the whole history of our car. When we got it in 1989 it had been sitting in a barn since 1970 in Indiana, but the owner was an old gentleman from Wisconsin.... being stored and sold by his nephew in Plymouth IN (nowhere near wisconsin!), so I would kill to find a way to trace the history of the car... any ideas? Thanks! |
