| Nice to see that turbo set ups are becoming more popular there too . Who will be next? Any thoughts adding an intercooler to your PU? Can you put some videos visible somewhere? Can't wait to hear that thing whistle...

| pegleg (3/31/2008) now that's cool, How did you get the photos to post?Hey Frank, I use a photo hosting site (www.fotki.com) and when you post, there is an icon on the top of the tool bar in the forum window that looks like a mountian with the sun in the background...if you click that, it will allow you to copy and paste a URL link to your photo server... Maybe somebody else can explain it better than me...I am no computer guru --reed

Nice to see that turbo set ups are becoming more popular there too . Who will be next? Any thoughts adding an intercooler to your PU? Can you put some videos visible somewhere? Can't wait to hear that thing whistle... I have a few videos of the truck at our local 1/8th mile dragstrip that I will post up...it is all prior to the turbo, though! As far as intercooling goes, with a draw-thru system the fuel is mixed with the pressurized air (carb before turbo)...so putting that mixture through an intercooler is kinda dangerous if you were to have an intake backfire. Also, cooling the air will cause the fuel to drop out of suspension a little...These are the main negative points of a draw-thru system. On the positive side, a draw-thru setup does not have to require alot of carburetor and fuel pump mods, since you are not pressurizing the carb itself. So the fuel enrichment side is easier to take care of. If you study up the factory McCullogh supercharged Y-blocks, you will notice that the fuel pump has a boost reference port to increase fuel pressure as manifold pressure increases. It also has some tricks in the carb. On a turbocharger, because the boost curve is much more dynamic than a supercharger (the supercharger is driven off a belt, so boost will follow the engine rpm), a blow through carb setup is a real tuning challenge. Thanks for the compliments! -reed

Yeah, we too have noticed that and that's why we are building a Megasquirt controlled 8-point injection to our next creation .
Good luck with your project and keep us posted about quartermile results!

That is so cool, glad to hear you've got it up and running. What heads did use for this project? Michael Currently we are using the stock heads that came on the truck since it was in such good shape....the new engine that we are building will be using a better head...maybe my dad will post up that info. I am a real noob to the "Y"...but my dad has found a head that is "posted"...maybe off a HD truck application or??? It is supposed to offer better combustion chamber support up in water jacket area. The new engine is going to have all the "goodies" needed for the turbo to really run right! Nice rods, forged pistons, SS valves, little port work etc...can't wait! Thanks, Reed
