Looking to add aftermarket A/C to my Y Block - something like vintage air or comparable. Not finding much on bracketry for the Y block. Is this just a deal where I will have to fabricate what I need...and how do I go about doing it - maybe somebody out there has a template I could follow...?

Hi Daniel   Classic Auto Air out of Florida. Complete kits and you can even use the factory switches.  Made especially for T-Birds.  Hope this helps  Eddie

Vintage Air has a alternator/compressor bracket for a YBlock (also has a different one for a TBird)that is very nice.  I have one, only using the alternator part.

I have the VintageAir A/C and alternator brackets on my 56 Club Sedan and they work perfectly.I believe they sell them for $99 unless you buy them with an A/C kit,in which case they cost $20.

Thanks fellas,

I will search their site a little more thoroughly -- must have missed the Y block bracket. I guess I would have to buy a universal kit and then the bracket.

Hey Daniel;   I put a vintage in my bird--super genII-- which is a universal unit A/C-Heat and Defrost.  Used vintage 4 lever switch.  I got my mount bracket from Don Hyde in Texas and also the compressor.  Believe some of the guys here on the forum have his phone number.  Had I known at the time that the classic unit was avail. I would have gone with their perfect fit kit. When I was in business I used several classic units and was very pleased with the qualititly amd performance. They do make a unit for our little birds.  Hope this helps.   Eddie

Just remember that the TBird brackets are different than the sedans due to the extended front of the motor on the Birds.

I posted this link on the other forum too. http://www.ndgearheadscruiserproducts.com/id22.htm  Might be able to use the Classic kit with this setup, or the V/A brackets.

One other comment here -- this site is a Godsend! I never dreamed that all these options were available! I'll have to spend a few days looking at all the options just on the internet sites. Thanks again.

I went through the same thing  , only i wanted  to mount  the alternator  on the left side ....i bought a air compressor mount from Don Hyde in  Texas , right side , fit perfect ,  and had to make a mount for the alt. on the left side  ....works great.   this was for my 56 ford victoria with a 292........the problem with the other mounts  that i could find.  they are over and under,   the compressor fits right on top of the alt. or vice versa...........Luck...Sam
