| I have a 1956 mercury with a 312 motor. What I would like to know is if there is a converson Kit to put a newer Automatic transmission in my car.

There are kits for a C-4 or AOD (pre computer)

AOD automatic tranny adapters for the Y are available from both Bristol Services Company (Costa Mesa, CA) and Hollywood Automotive (St. Louis, MO). Both of these companies advertise heavily in the Y-Block Magazine. A C4 tranny adpater is available from Flat-O products. Here's their link: http://www.flat-o.com/carproducts/yblock.htm .
