There is always some new comers to performance tuning a Y-Block on this site, so here is a good magazine to learn some basics of engine building, and a few on things that help on any old car.   The January 2007 Car Craft has several articles that can help (page 35)VALVE TO PISTON CLEARANCE, (page 38) PLASTIGAGE VERSES MICROMETER,  (page 40) HOW TO DEGREE A CAM. (page 48), INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET SYSTEM ( Hot Rod Air ) tips that work on most older cars and (page 64) BENDING YOU OWN BRAKE LINES.  Most of these are on GM engines but the basics are all the same. You just have to remember not to line up the timing marks (Ha Ha)
