I'm sure someone out there has run into this. I'm going through a pair of 113 heads for my 57 Ford 292 and was wondering. Has anyone replaced the 2 piece valve spring retainers with a 1 piece retainer? Can I use a late 60's 289/302 retainer? They have the same valve stem size and the springs look similar. Not looking to spend a fortune, just wondering if any OEM parts might work. Thanks. Dan

| Dan: 289/302 retainers should work. I use 429/460 retainers on mine, but I use 427 low riser springs which are slightly larger diameter than Y springs.

| Thanks John. I knew someone would have an idea. My engine isn't exotic enough for low riser springs & 429/460 retainers. I think this will work just fine. Next stop 1.5 rocker arms. Dan
