Hello everyone,

I am a new member, this is my first post. My power steering pump on my 56 Fairlane locked up. Does any one know of a newer pump and bracket that will mount to a 292 engine?

Steve:

As far as bolt on to the 292, it would have to come off a 292, which limits you to '62, and on those galaxies the reservoir is separate from the pump and mounts on the inner fender.  To go newer yet, you'll have to fabricate the necessary brackets to mount it.

Geargead Cruisers has a bracket to mount a GM Saginaw pump on the Y Block that looks pretty good. The entire kit including the pump and pulley is $385.00. There has been some discussion on another site about problems with the 605 steering box that they sell. I don't have any personel experience with their products, just passing along info.
