Thanks,

I really appreciate the advice. this has been a fun truck to get back on the road. It belonged to my father in-law. My wife remembers driving it as a kid helping her dad hay. Lots of family memories for them.

I thought I just read recently where the 256 merc manifolds were EBV's and the ford 239's were the EBY's, so that may rule out coming from a 54 Merc and may be an early Ford manifold. Unless I got this backwards. What color was the manifold? that may give some clues.

I have a strange manifold with a 2 Barrel Teapot holley and the smallest 4 bolt carb pattern I have ever seen. I don't know if there was ever another carb made to fit this manifold. Maybe its off an industrial application? I'll gets some pics.

Billy.  What you describe sounds like an early truck intake that used a Holley Teapot two barrel carb.  Looks to be the same bolt pattern as a Rochester two barrel carb.

The only 4 barrel '54 Fords were police interceptors, and hey had Merc 256s in them.  If it's a 4 barrel manifold, it has to be Merc.  Small ports, regardless.
