Tim, thanks for the answers to my questions. After rereading the rules I see it does say "No Trans Brakes".
As for the Converter Girdle, I'm wondering if it would be easier to use just an aluminum ring in stead of carving out the concave center part? Seems it would be more universal and easier to make.
I am running the Flat-o adapter kit (on the Street) and have not had any problems with the studs (so far) but they where a concern when I first installed it. I check them every time I'm under the car changing the oil too. I hope everyone is Tig welding the studs to the converter as suggested in the instructions from Flat-o??

Yes, Harry was welding the adapters too the studs, problem was he was ripping the orginal studs from the torque converter. May not be a problem with a lighter car, he is launching a 4000 lb tank with a pretty healthy 312. The way he explaned it to me, the ring may only be 2" across but the area of the converter where the studs are is not flat. You don't want this thing to flop around, so concave the back to the profile of the converter and have a few thou interference so that when the nuts are torqued down, it is held firmly between the converter and flexplate. It could be made from two pieces of 1/2" alum plate or even steel. The steel would add quite a bit of rotating mass and as Ted stated may help with the launch. On a street car, I don't think the kit as supplied is a problem, but sure was not made for a race car. But until someone steps up with a good SFI piece, we just have to work with what we have. Some members have contacted Quick Time and they are willing to tackle the project, problem is they want a minumin order of 25 units. I don't see 25 Y block race cars running C4's in the near future so most likely want happen.
