I was able to find the short in my truck this weekend and need help.  I am sure the user caused the problem.  I am getting a short when I attach the wire to the center tab on my horn relay.  The horn in hooked up but the horn button on the steering wheel is not.  Questions is could the relay be bad and if so how do I check it.  My wiring diagram says one wire to the left, one to the center and on to the right but which is the right.  If I flip how I mount the swith on the frame the right tab becomes the left.  Hope that makes sence.  I suppose I would just left the horn unhooked afterall the button is not hooked up but I would like to get it fixed.  Other ideas on how to fix my short?  Thanks Bing

Sounds to me like the wire is shorted out inside the steering column. Take a close look at the bottom where the wire comes out. They break/wear there often.

Bing , i am looking at my diagram. It looks like the relay is marked h b s . h wire goes to horn .. yellow and green . b wire goes to battery.. yellow. s wire goes to switch ( horn button ) blue/yellow..  The relay is case grounded .it appears , that when the horn button is pressed , the ground is completed and battery voltage is sent to the horn to activate it .  If you are shorting at the center terminal with battery voltage , it would indicate to me that the relay is shorted to ground internally . I hope this helps.
