I have to get at the temperature sending unit on my 1956 Ford 292 yblock. I also want to install a ground wire in this area of the block to the firewall. This looks to be impossible without moving or removing the bell crank throttle linkage. Can someone give me specific instructions on how to remove and install the bell crank as I have not had any experience doing this?

Thanks,

Danny

Danny, connect the engine ground wire to other head ( its less cluttered!) Use the small bolt near freeze plug on head.

Danny:

You can probably just take out the two bolts holding the bellcrank to the manifold and shift it out of the way.  Shouldn't have to take any of the linkage off.

Yes, you should just be able to do as john says.  Just be aware of the return spring - make a note of how it attaches/orientation, as it will likely pop off when the bolts come out.  You may want to unhook the return spring first, as it makes the bolts easier to remove.

You are best off not disturbing the linkage adjustments, as there is a set procedure to recalibrate the throttle & kickdown linkage lengths if you have to adjust them.
