I need to take out the speedometer head from my car to do some maintenance on it and I am unsure of what is the correct way to do this. Does it just drop out from behind like the earlier models, or does the section of dash that it sets in have to be removed? The car is a 56 Ford Country Sedan.

Its very easy.Comes out from behind.Undo the speedo cable and remove 4 screws(one at each corner).holding the speedo head in place.Turn the head about 1/4 turn clockwise and remove. You also need to unplug the dashlight in the middle and the 2 turn signal bulb sockets .
