I was wondering if any of you guys have put a hood release inside the car, so that no one can steal my battery/carb etc. Any help/pictures would be awesome. I'm sure I can run a cable to release it but what is stopping someone from still using their sticky little fingers from manually opening it from the outside... Thanks in advance. Kevin

You might try adapting one from an older truck, like a 75, like I am trying to do. It helps that they use the same latch on my car (a 63 fairlane) as they do on 71-76 F-100s. My advice would be to try to use the entire latch from the donor vehicle, which is likely easier for my vehicle, but it might be close.

Another alternative that I have seen on a couple of old trucks would be to get something like a door lock servo and wire it up with the switch in the cab, although making it electric could be a problem if you need a jump!

That's a good idea. Unfortunately they isn't many junk yards with old Fords/Mercurys here in southern california (That I know of). I may end up putting a servo, but a cable would be alot less maintanence. Let me know how yours goes. Kevin

Try an electric opener off a door or trunk.
