I love asking for opinions because everyone's got one! So step right up gents. I want opinions as to which balancer I should run- or how I should go about my harmonic balancer. I'm finalizing a 333 Y, and have seen people run a few different balancers. Should I rebuild one of the three that I've got? Buy a rebuild from dampger doctor? Buy a new one from a supplier like ATI (Do they even have one that works?) Or use a balancer from a different ford motor (are there any such candidates)?

What do I need to know when selecting a harmonic balancer? I'm having my crank and rotating assembly completely balanced (reciprocating and rotating). Any information that you can supply is greatly appreciated- even the basic stuff you take for granted (because I'm still a total newb). Thanks, Dawg

It's a 55 Effie, shortbed. All three balancers are single groove, truck balancers. I'm not planning on running any accessories right now (just an alternator). Hope that helps.

Ted Eaton sells an Innovators West after market balancer (SFI approved)...not sure about stock belt alignment, as it is drilled for sbf pulleys...contact him for info,.....but remember he's likely headed to Columbus already.   Barry L

I’m close to being headed out for Columbus.  Next thirty minutes or so.

Both ATI and Innovators West make a SFI approved Y specific damper for the Y.  Here’s the link to a thread discussing them.  Doing a search for ATI on this site should bring up some other discussions.
