y-blockhead (6/21/2007) Ted, Since you mentioned "scallops" a couple times, are you aware that Vintage Speed has reproduction Fenton valve covers that have the Stock Ford appearing scallops on the outer side?
I don''t know how to send a picture or I would. Part # VC-Y-BLOCK-FENTON. $255.00 a pair.I've seen these but just didn't go for having "Fenton" emblazoned across their tops. gary534(6/21/2007) As for clear plastic covers, how long does motor oil stay clear before it turns opaque rendering the valve cover opaque.
The inside of the clear covers cloud up initially when first fired up due to condensate but then clear right up as the engine warms up. Even with the oil hitting the covers from the underside, the general area around the valve train assemblies remains quite visible. Here's a picture of the covers I ran on my Fe with a clear lexan insert that held up quite well for the twelve years that they were ran.

| How about a valve cover with 7 scallops instead of 8. This puts one scallop in the center, makes each one wider. Now put 3 1/2 inch tall Y-block emblem in center, with crankcase of emblem on center scallop. I sent Ted a sketch of it today.

| Frank, wait 3 days for snail mail CT to TX, and for Ted to scan and post. For yet another idea, how much demand for a teapot dual quad air cleaner lid is there ? Lid would have big Y-block emblem. Too bad most Ford hoods are hinged at front.

| Gary, Vintage, I think, is already doing that. Next project will be another front cover and maybe a cast stoker crank.

Now you are talking Frank, them valve covers are "eye candy", a real stroker crank, that's something we can sink our teeth in.

| As much as I like drawing sketches of dress up parts, I have to agree with Glen, the more mechanical pieces the better. Frank, that next timing cover wouldnt happen to be for a 708 lb Lincoln Y-block, would it ? LYB badly needs diet of aluminum parts.

| Gary, No, you and Royce have the only Lincolns, not much of a market!

| Frank, how much is foundry and machining tooling for a front cover, and how much is foundry tooling for a cast crank ? I hear f + m for intake is $30K, head $70K, block $250K.

| Gary, front cover 5000 =/-, Crank, a little less. the prices can vary all over the map depending on the local market, how hungry they are, and what kind of tooling you want to build. 30,000 for an intake is not out of reason, can be done cheaper, but requires cad dwgs done by you.
