I was looking at a late 90s cavalier , the rack has the tie rods sticking out of a boot on each end. The wurthit rack and one other I have seen pictures of, have the tie rods in the center of the rack-close together. Is this an after market piece, or is that the way that rack locates the tie rods?  Thanks, Mark

thanks, Mark

could you please let me know how to install a ran & pinion in a 55-56 crown victoria.  If you have any pics of these that would be helpful I would appreciate you emailing them to me if at all possible.  Thanks!

Matt, I believe Jim the site administrator did a conversion very similar on his 56 Ford, maybe you could ask him about how his worked out. Gary in Asheville, N.C.

Jim ended up taking the rack and pinion off of his ’56 as it was mounted behind the engine crossmember and was too tight of an angle going to the steering box creating some binding issues.

Hi, its best just to look for rack that is mounted on the ends and the center does the moving left to right, then a heavy piece of rectangular steel bar stock is machined to be able to bolt to it and then the inner tie rod end holes are machined in the original locations, this keeps the geometery to orig specs. i cant tell you guys what local rack fits but that is basically the principal that works. Most people try and use rack where tie rod ends come out each end and the geometery just doesnt work. We here in australia use that principal in this application, just a suggestion to keep in mind. Thanks. Best regards. aussie bill.
