Hi all,
I think I can actually go to the shootout this year -- where can I find out what days/times events are planned?
Hope to see lots of you there!

Chris:

Glad to hear you can make it.  If I remember right, you are from the same town as Bob Martin, or at least close.  Give him a call, he has flyers.  Call tonight or tomorrow, he'll probably leave early Thursday.  In a nutshell, setup for vendors Thursday, also some will park their race and show cars.  Tech and time trials Friday.  Time trials, Mustang qualifying, Y Block Shootout, bracket racing Saturday.  All classes run eliminations Sunday, but no Y shootout.

John,

If I got there late AM to mid day Friday and left Sunday, would I miss much in the way of   Y Block activities?  I heard there is a dinner Thursday night.  I'm mainly going to meet the guys and see the cars.  I'd like to avoid the traffic on the way home on Monday.  Bob Martin sent me a bunch of information.  I know some guys in my area are leaving Thursday after work and driving late.  I have a neighbor who competes in SS/O and I would like to see how far he gets in his class too, but that might go into Monday?

There is no racing scheduled for Monday.  It is usually all done by around 4:oo Sunday.  If it rains Sunday, they will probably run Monday.  I don't think rain is in the forecast.

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about eating.  That's something the Y guys are good at.  Thursday meals are usually get togethers for small groups of Y guys at various restaurants.  Friday night is the same deal, but usually larger groups, fewer restaurants, and more BS sessions.  Saturday night will be our "biggie" meal and awards banquet.  Probably the highlight of the weekend.  For lunch at the track, Barb and Harry Hutten bring their grill and a truckload of food, and with volunteer help, put on the feedbag for all to enjoy.  Talk about picnics!!  Those so inclined give Harry some money to help pay for the food.  Like I told Harry last year, I don't want him to make money on the food, but I want him to be fully re-imbursed.  Last year Joe Craynon brought a huge pan of spaghetti, others brought chips, deserts, and the like.  Joe also cooked breakfast for us last year, an unexpected surprise, as many ate breakfast before coming to the track.

John,

Thanks for the info, I'm really looking forward to the Y Block Nationals.  I'll be sure to bring my appetite, well that's one thing I can't seem to forget or misplace.  I am putting things in a box or in my 57 that I want to bring, like camera, etc.

Hey Guys, I'm really dissappointed that I can't make it this year. Didn't get the bird done in time. But it turns out I couldn't go with all the other of life's distractions anyway.

But the guys I was supposed to come with, Ralph Alix and Sam Alix are loading Sam's fine yellow 57 Fairlane on the trailer right now and will be on the road to Ohio soon without me.
It's their first time to yblock Nats and I talked 'em into going. They're not computer savvy so much, but they know this site from me and are looking forward to meeting up.

Ralph will also be bringing some precious y parts you'll want to see.

I know you'll give them a good welcome.

Al:

Sorry to hear you had to change plans.  I know you had intended to come.  Rest assured, your friends will be in good hands.  Next year?
