| | I was told that the amount of air polution created from producing one set of Hybrid batteries is more than a typical suv produces in 10 years! Tell that to the tree huggers! They are making the ozone worse one battery at a time! |

| Further to what Steve mentioned, I don't know how accurate this is now, but I read a few years ago that one takeoff of a commercial airliner, created as much or more air polution as 900 cars being driven 24 hours a day for a week!

| gary534 (12/26/2007) pcmenten, it says the W8 is two 15 degree V4s, with a 72 degree angle between them. Do you take this to mean 72 degrees between the insides of the V4s, or 72 degrees between the centers of the V4s ? Either way, it doesnt come out to an " even " angle overall.
Yes, I took that to mean that it was two 15 degree V4s. It would be a straight 4 ,but to get the cylinders closer together they offset the cylinders slightly, staggering them. Then they joined the two four cylinder engines at the crankshaft.
A V8 is two straight 4 cylinder engines joined at the crank at a 90 degree angle. The W8 is two 15 degree V4s joined at the crank at 72 degrees.

| Looks like a pair of their narrow angle V6's on a common crank. Bet that's an interesting cylinder Head!

| Short skirt pistons, looong connecting rods. It must have wedge shaped piston tops. That crank must look pretty strange.

| | Thanks for the pix, Ted. Now I see how they stagger them to make them fit a 15 degree angle. |
