| | What is the bolt pattern on an explorer 8.8 rear end? Hope it is 5 on 4.5" circle but suspect it may be 5 on 5". Thx TC

| | Tom, I think it's the same as the 5.0 Mustang or 4.5" Easy to measure though.

| | Y-Guys While ya'll are on the subject of the explorer rear diff, what is the width? and is yours disc or drum? (Will it work in an F-100 with out a lot of modifications?) For the record, all explorer's were 41/2 bolt circle. Thx Bill

| | Check carefully, If I remember correctly I read in the Mustang forums that the center section is offset to 1 side on the Explorer rear. This would put the driveshaft off center in the tunnel. The width looks right for both our cars and the mustang but the offset could be a big problem if it's true |

| | Thanks, guys. I was afraid that the Explorer/Ranger being a truck (small) might have the 5X5" bolt pattern. TC

| | You are correct gentlemen, the Explorer does have a 4 1/2" bolt pattern on the 8.8" rear. I know for sure for I have 2002 Explorer wheels on my 56. Also, If my memory serves me correctly the 8.8" rear out of a Ranger / Explorer is the same as a 57 Ford 9" (either 52" or 54" flange to flange, not sure). I was going to install one in my 56 before I found the 9" er. I measured one up and it was the right width, only mods would have been to weld on the spring perches. Rob
